The Puff Adder is a very common snake in Africa and in sub-saharan Africa found just about everywhere except rainforests. That color pattern of the snake is very typical for the southern Puff Adders but the colors seem to get brighter further up north. That is also why it was probably hard to identify in a book. Although the Black Mamba is officially the most venomous snake here, the Puff Adder causes more deaths because of venom that affects the tissue, and people often die of secondary infection. |
