School Term Begins |
Construction and a Track Meet |
The first priority for
the year at one school was a track meet. Unfortunately, this meant there were hardly any academic classes for a week and a half. It was very time consuming to prepare the grounds and then hold trials. The technique used to put in the lane lines was for a child to climb aboard a chair to weight the legs into the earth. This was then dragged around the course by other children. This was a difficult experience for this former PE teacher as there was practically no instruction for the children on track techniques and my attempts to provide such were met with indifference.
