School Term Begins
Parents prep for track meet
The first priority for the year at one school was a track meet. Unfortunately,
this meant there were hardly any academic classes for a week and a half.
It was very time consuming to prepare the grounds and then hold trials. The
technique used to put in the lane lines was a chair with child aboard to weight
the legs into the earth, then dragged by other children around the course.
This was a difficult experience for this xPE teacher as there was practically no
instruction for the children on techniques and my attempts to provide such
were met with indifference. I didn't want to spend any time on that battle.
