On the 5th of October some
of us went to Terra Bianca Winery in the morning while others wandered
the roads of the area. This winery is run be a family from Switzerland
and is very clean and organized. We met most of the group for lunch
at a wonderful restaurant on a hillside near Gaiole. We had dinner
at another restaurant we were interested in and had more good food.
On the
morning of the 6th Katrin had to leave to return to Switzerland.
It was wonderful to see her closer to her home. Some of us went
to San Gimignano in the morning and then to Siena while others
spent the entire day in Siena. The sights and colors in both
cities were wonderful and in San Gimignano we had the added
treat of market day. It was fun to be in Siena and sit on the
Plazza where they have the annual horse races. The Duomo/Cathedral
in Siena is magnificent and the audio tour is quite good. We
ended the day with a dinner cooked by Mimi at the villa. |
